Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of grape receival, processing and wine making, including chemical additions, racking, transfers, clarification, blending, and storage.
  • Collaborate with management and customers to build lasting relationships by identifying needs and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct wine tastings to evaluate quality and recommend treatments, including blending and bulk wine purchases and sales.
  • Enhance processes to improve quality, reduce costs, and boost operational efficiency.
  • Maintain quality control procedures to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Ensure that all laboratory analyses are up-to-date and relevant for informed decision-making.
  • Train and mentor junior team members.
  • Uphold high workplace health and safety standards within the cellar.
  • Candidates must provide proof of permanent residency in Australia.

Qualifications and skills:

  • A degree in Viticulture, Oenology, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of winemaking equipment, processes, and protocols.
  • Familiarity with wine industry networks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a winemaking role with a proven track record.
  • Advanced understanding of wine production techniques and sensory evaluation.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to thrive under pressure.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire your team.
  • Experience with EZY winery management software is an advantage.
